Tractel's Air Hoists - Tirak
U.L. Classified / CSA Approved Traction Hoists
Air hoists are dependable, easy to handle, with capacity you need, and inexpensive to maintain. Tirak X-Series and T-Series traction hoists have features you need. These hoists use a unique traction system with a wire rope that passes completely through the machine rather than being stored in the machine itself. This same hoist can be used for any job from 30 to 1,200 feet and even higher. Tirak hoists are designed for use on all types of suspended scaffolding equipment including swing stages, work cages, and bosun's chairs. Choose from electric motors (110, 220, or dual voltage) or air powered motors with lifting capacities ranging from 700 to 5,300 pounds.Air hoists are especially important on job sites where explosive materials may be present. With no electricity required on the platform, there is no imminent danger of a spark or hoist failure that might result in an explosion in an environment such as a fuel storage tank. Also, in places where power is not readily available, like bridges, air hoists may be favorable over electric hoists because there is no need to string long electric cables all the way out to the platform.
As a leading designer and innovator in suspended scaffolding equipment for over 30 years, Griphoists' products will give you years of trouble free service. The principle behind the Tirak hoist operates on a clamping mechanism and traction pulley. The wire rope passes completely through the machine since it is not stored within the apparatus itself, the same hoist can be used for practically all working heights. The compression spring in the X-Series hoist, pictured right, clamps the rope and is designed so that its grip actually increases with increasing work load. Both the electric and air powered hoists operate under this principle.
For emergency situations, a Blocstop BSO 500 secondary brake is mounted on Tirak hoists as standard equipment. The BSO 500 is mounted externally for easy service and inspection. A centrifugal mechanical brake allows for controlled descent even if power is lost. This means there is no dependence on electrical components for emergency lowering. The Blocstop BS/BSO 500 is a combination brake for a dual wire rope system that provides protection in case of a primary rope failure.
